Academy Committee Members
The Academy Committee Members of Haworth Primary School welcome you to their part of the school’s website. We hope that you will find our website clear, informative and easy to navigate. It has been designed to give you a flavour of the vibrant life of the school, the work of our wonderful pupils and the quality education that we strive to deliver. In this area we hope to provide you with information that will tell you who we are and, to some extent, what we try to do.
Our Academy Committee body is an essential part of life at Haworth Primary School. We are involved in helping to improve and sustain school by regulating the curriculum, finance, buildings and staffing amongst other things. The body is representative of our school community and, therefore, is made up of parents, staff and members of the local community. This means that the decisions made at Academy Committee Member meetings are fair and have school’s best interests at heart. We are all volunteers who give up our time to govern the school to the best of our abilities. All of us have expertise in a wide range of areas, not just within the Educational Field, but also in areas such as management, finance, buildings, safeguarding and many more.
Our Academy Committee Members are actively involved in the life and work of the school and have many statutory duties, these being:
- To help shape the vision and direction of the school.
- To ensure that the school fulfils its statutory duties.
- To have a good understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the school.
- To ‘constructively’ challenge and support the Leadership Team.
We do this by working in partnership with the Headteacher, and the Senior Leaders within the school, with the unified aim of delivering an outstanding education to all of our pupils. We are strong supporters of the school and are very keen to hear from parents/carers and others who are interested in us. All Academy Committee Members can be contacted through the school or via the Chair.
You will see lots of Academy Committee Members around the school, as they visit the school on a regular basis to challenge what we are doing and support the school. Each Academy Committee Member has a link role and they come into school to work with the staff and monitor these areas. Our Link Academy Committee Member roles are consistent across the Trust and cover the following areas:-
- Leadership and Management
- Standards / Teaching and Learning
- Early Years
- Resources (Finance and Buildings)
- Key Groups
